Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation awarded $10,000

Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation awarded a $10,000 Let’s Play sports-equipment donation from Dr Pepper Snapple Group and nonprofit Good Sports.

Fort Lauderdale, FL — Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) awarded Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation a Let’s Play equipment donation valued at $10,000 as part of its partnership with Good Sports and the Florida Beverage Association (FBA). The grant provided brand-new sports equipment including 28 football helmets, six soccer goals, 24 volleyballs, 100 mouth guards, 48 baseball helmets, and 12 medicine balls. The donation will impact 1,400 kids over the lifetime of the equipment.

“Youth sports empowers children to explore and develop lifelong skills by building self-esteem, developing teamwork skills, teaching discipline, and strengthening perseverance, and much more,” said Carl Williams, Deputy Director of the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation. “The Let’s Play grant will allow us to enhance our youth sports programs by providing valuable sports equipment.”

Let’s Play is an initiative by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to provide kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority. Through DPS’s partnership with Good Sports, an organization that provides donations of athletic gear and sports equipment to deserving organizations, Let’s Play has donated more than $4 million in brand-new equipment over the last three years to help kids become active as part of a $38 million investment in Let’s Play.
