The Florida Beverage Association (FBA), in partnership with the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America (ABFHA), is proud to highlight the impact of a recent community grant supporting the Lealman Farmers Market — a vital initiative expanding access to fresh food, nutrition education, and community connection in one of Pinellas County’s most underserved areas.
Located in a designated food desert, the Lealman Farmers Market, launched by the St. Petersburg Foundation, brings fresh, locally grown produce directly into the neighborhood while creating opportunities for residents to learn, connect, and make healthier choices.
With support from FBA and ABFHA, the market expanded its programming during the 2024 – 2025 season to include health and wellness resources at every market day, a first for the initiative.
Through this investment, residents had access to:
- Nutrition and cooking demonstrations led by a registered nutritionist;
- Practical guidance on preparing fresh, locally available foods;
- Budget-conscious meal planning strategies and healthy substitutions; and
- Access to a SNAP-accepting produce vendor to ensure affordability for all residents.

By combining fresh food access with education and community engagement, the Lealman Farmers Market is helping empower residents with the tools and confidence to make informed choices for themselves and their families.
FBA’s support of the market is part of a broader effort, in partnership with ABFHA, to invest in programs that promote nutrition, wellness, and stronger communities across Florida.
