The American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America (ABFHA), in partnership with the Florida Beverage Association (FBA), recently announced $68,000 in new community grants to support programs advancing health, nutrition, and sustainability across the Sunshine State.

These investments will help local organizations expand initiatives that improve food access, wellness education, and strengthen community-based sustainability efforts.

The 2025 Florida grant recipients include Feed the Need of Putnam County in Palatka ($25,000), the St. Petersburg Foundation ($18,000), and Debris Free Global in Miami ($25,000). Each organization is advancing creative, local solutions that address food insecurity, promote healthy habits, and protect Florida’s natural environment.

“The Florida Beverage Association is proud to partner with organizations that are driving meaningful change in their communities,” said Liz DeWitt, president and CEO of the Florida Beverage Association. “These grants reflect our continued commitment to investing in innovative local initiatives that help Florida families thrive and advance our shared goals around wellness, access, and environmental responsibility.”

Feed the Need of Putnam County’s Healthy Habits, Healthy Futures initiative integrates nutrition education into its weekend food program to help food-insecure students and families build lifelong healthy eating habits. The program provides healthier food options alongside wellness resources to encourage positive behavioral change.

The Lealman Farmers Market, launched by the St. Petersburg Foundation, is a community-led response to food insecurity in one of Florida’s most underserved neighborhoods. With this grant, the market will expand its nutrition education programming and deepen community engagement in the Lealman area.

In Miami, Debris Free Global is partnering with Ascendance Sustainable Events to turn large-scale local events into platforms for environmental education and sustainable action. The program will provide sustainability planning and guidance for events with up to 50,000 attendees, helping reduce waste, lower carbon footprints, and protect Florida’s natural resources.

These grants are part of ABFHA’s broader national initiative recognizing community programs that promote nutrition, sustainability, and wellness. Together, these investments reflect the Foundation’s belief that lasting change begins at the local level, where dedicated partners and neighbors work together to build stronger, healthier communities.
