The Florida Beverage Association Community Grant Program Returns for its 7th Year

flabev blog imageThe Florida Beverage Association (FBA) is proud to announce that its annual Community Grant Program is back for its seventh consecutive year. Each year, FBA invites local groups throughout the State of Florida to apply for the grant, furthering our commitment to the communities where we live, work, and play.

As the leading organization representing non-alcoholic beverage producers, marketers, bottlers, and distributors throughout Florida, FBA focuses a great deal on environmental sustainability, health and wellness through a variety of campaigns, including Every Bottle Back, the Clear on Calories Initiative, and the Balance Calories initiative. This grant provides the chance for other like-minded organizations to receive funding for a wide range of programs.

"FBA and its members recognize the importance of building upon our commitment to the communities we serve by awarding grants to local programs that promote our core values," explained Elizabeth DeWitt, President and CEO of the Florida Beverage Association. "We believe these partnerships are essential in educating consumers about choices they can make to impact the environment, their health, and the health of those around them."

Since its commencement, the FBA Community Grant Program has awarded over half-a-dozen grants to local groups throughout the State of Florida, such as the University of Florida’s Seagrant program focused on placing seabins in marinas to help collect debris from waterways.  Other past recipients include the City of Orlando, Orange County Public Schools, Florida Recreation and Park Association Foundation, the "I'm a STAR" Foundation and more.

Because of this grant program, local groups can continue shining a light on their work promoting balanced nutrition, active lifestyles, and environmental sustainability. "Each year, we are introduced to a variety of incredible groups that share our vision. Even if they are not awarded the grant money, we try and work with them in some other capacity," said DeWitt. "That's what makes this program so unique. More than anything, it's an opportunity to spread awareness of the work these incredible groups do.”
